A separate and valuable stream. People asking about distribution rights, reseller terms, or partnership are worth routing straight to whoever handles channel, not into the general RFQ pile where they'll be treated as a small order.

There's a second use that shows up quickly. Existing customers asking about specifications, replacement parts, material certificates, or how to reorder generate a steady load on technical and sales staff.

Be careful with the boundary: anything involving whether a product is suitable for a specific application, safety-critical use, or a modification needs a human engineer. Getting that wrong in an industrial context has consequences well beyond a bad customer experience.

Don't let it quote a price. Manufacturing pricing depends on setup, tooling, batch size, and material cost at the time, a number from a chat window will be wrong.

Don't let it commit to a lead time. Capacity changes weekly.

Don't let it confirm that a part can be made to a given spec without engineering review. "We typically work to X and our team will confirm against your drawing" is the right answer.

Point it at your capability pages, datasheets, certification documents, and product catalogue. Upload PDFs. In manufacturing, that's where nearly all the real content lives.

Turn on multilingual replies. Set the RFQ capture fields. Add routing for distributor enquiries and for existing-customer technical questions.

The numbers worth tracking

RFQs captured outside your working hours and from outside your home market. Those are the two categories that previously registered as nothing at all.

Then track the share of RFQs your estimating team can price without a follow-up email. In a business where quoting is expensive and slow, removing a round-trip from every enquiry compounds quickly.
