Limits to know before you choose
- Website chat only. It answers in a chat widget on your site. It doesn't answer phone calls, SMS, WhatsApp or social messages.
- It answers from what you give it. Your pages, documents and Q&A are its only source. If the answer isn't there it says so, logs the question for you, and can take the visitor's details.
- Requests, not confirmed bookings. It can take a booking or callback request and send it to you. It doesn't connect to a calendar or confirm a time.
- No order, stock or account lookups. On a store it answers from your product pages and policies. It installs with one script tag and isn't a native Shopify, Wix or WooCommerce app.
- No built-in CRM integrations yet. Leads arrive by email and in your dashboard, and each chatbot can post new leads to a webhook you provide.
- A monthly allowance. Each plan includes a set number of AI tokens a month. If it runs out, the chat tells visitors it is temporarily unavailable until the next month or an upgrade.
- English dashboard. The assistant replies in the visitor's language, but the dashboard, built-in widget labels and emails are in English.

- Is there a free plan?
- Yes. The Free plan is free forever: one chatbot and 500K AI tokens a month (about 375 replies), with no credit card required. Upgrade when you outgrow it, and downgrade or cancel anytime.
- What is the cheapest AI chatbot plan?
- The cheapest plan is Free at $0 a month, forever. The cheapest paid tier is Starter at $9.99/month, or $8.49/month billed annually. That's where the automatic website crawler switches on. Lead capture is included on every plan, Free too.
- How many messages does a chatbot handle?
- Each plan includes a monthly allowance of AI tokens: 500K on Free (about 375 replies), 1M on Starter (about 750 replies) and 5M on Pro (about 3,750 replies). Enterprise is sized to your volume. The allowance resets at the start of each calendar month.
- What is an AI token?
- A token is the unit the AI reads and writes, roughly three quarters of a word. Each reply uses the visitor's question, the relevant parts of your knowledge base and the answer itself, which comes to about 1,300 tokens on average. Short answers use fewer, long ones more, so the reply counts on this page are estimates. When the month's allowance runs out, the chatbot pauses until the next month unless you upgrade.
- Can I use my own OpenAI key?
- You don't need one. The AI is included in every plan, so there's no separate OpenAI subscription, API key, or usage bill to manage. Your monthly token allowance is the only limit.
- How do I remove SpideyChat branding?
- Upgrade to Pro or above and switch branding off in the widget settings. The “Powered by SpideyChat” badge disappears and the chat widget presents as entirely your own.
- Can I change plans later?
- Yes. Open Plans & billing in your dashboard to upgrade, downgrade, or switch between monthly and yearly billing yourself. You confirm each change on a Stripe page that shows the exact amount first. An upgrade starts straight away and you pay only the difference for the rest of your billing period. Moving to a lower paid plan credits the unused part of what you have paid toward your next invoices. If you downgrade to Free, your paid plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, then the account moves to Free.
- Do paid plans renew automatically?
- Yes. Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period, every month or every year depending on which you choose, until you cancel. Prices are shown and charged in US dollars (USD).
- What is your refund policy?
- Payments are non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise, as set out in section 6 of our Terms & Conditions. When you cancel, you are not charged again and you keep your paid plan until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Which languages does SpideyChat support?
- The chatbot replies in the language each visitor writes in, even when your knowledge base is in one language. You write the welcome message and suggestion buttons yourself, so they can be in any language. The dashboard, notification emails and the widget's built-in labels (such as the message box and “Report an issue”) are in English.
- Do you offer annual billing?
- Yes. Paying annually lowers the effective monthly rate: Starter is $8.49/mo billed annually and Pro is $24.99/mo billed annually.
