Built for healthcare practices
Your 24/7 AI receptionist for your healthcare website.
Answer routine patient questions, capture appointment requests, and keep your front desk moving, even after hours.
What it handles
Six front-desk jobs, each with a clear limit.
The limit is the point. A receptionist that knows where to stop is the only kind you can safely leave running overnight.
Practice questions
Hours, locations and parking, services, clinicians, access, fees, insurance and cancellation policy.
Limit: approved sources only, with a link. Unsure means it says so.
Appointment requests
Captures what it is for, which clinician or site, when suits, the name and how to reach them.
Limit: never confirmed in chat; your team confirms it.
Changes and cancellations
A name and a phone number is not identification, so appointments are never read out or altered in chat.
Limit: without verification it takes a callback request, nothing else.
Enquiries routed
New patients, referrals, billing, repeat prescriptions, records requests and complaints reach the right team.
Limit: never promises a prescription is approved or sent.
A person when needed
Hands over to your desk during opening hours. Outside them it logs a follow-up with your response window.
Limit: a visitor is never told a person has it until delivery succeeds.
Your languages
It replies in the language the patient writes in, and the request reaches your team with the conversation attached.
Limit: your team follows up in the languages it can handle.
Setup
Live on your site in three steps.
Add your content
Import your website or upload your policies and fee guide. You review every source before it can be used, and anything stale is flagged.
Set hours and rules
Opening hours per site, booking lead times, who receives which enquiry, and the exact emergency wording for your region.
Paste one line
Works on WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, Shopify and custom sites. It loads after your page, so nothing slows down.

Real examples
The same receptionist at three different hours.
Including the two it refuses to do, because that is what makes it safe to leave on.
An answer from your fee guide
The question your desk takes forty times a week.
Do you take Denplan, and what does a hygienist visit cost?
Fees and payment
The cancellation it will not do
Knowing a name and a date is not identification.
I need to cancel my dad's appointment on Thursday. John Hartley, he's 78.
I cannot look up or change an appointment from chat, even with a name and a date. That protects your father's details. I can put a cancellation request on reception's desk for the morning, and Thursday is outside the late cancellation window.

When the answer is stop
The booking flow ends and your wording takes over.
my face is really swollen on one side and it's getting hard to swallow, can I get an emergency appointment tomorrow
Please stop and get help now
Swelling with difficulty swallowing needs urgent care tonight, not an appointment tomorrow. Call 999 or go to your nearest emergency department. For urgent advice, call NHS 111.
Your wording, your region. SpideyChat has not contacted anyone on your behalf.
I cannot assess symptoms or book you in for this. I have stopped the request and flagged it for the practice to review.
Northgate Family Dental is a fictional demo practice. No patient data appears anywhere on this site.
By practice type
The questions differ. The front desk problem does not.
A practice type gets its own page only when there is something genuinely different to say. If yours is not here, setup still starts from your enquiries rather than a template.
Boundaries
Written down, built in, visible to patients.
What it will never do
- Diagnose, or suggest what a symptom might mean
- Decide how urgent something is, or triage a patient
- Recommend a medicine, a dose or a change to one
- Interpret a test result, a scan or a letter
- Ask for a symptom history or records in a lead form
- Claim to have alerted anyone, or show one patient's details to another
When something is not routine
- The booking flow stops and nothing further is collected
- Your emergency message appears alone, with the number you entered
- An urgent-help notice sits in the widget before any chat starts
- Ambiguous cases go to a staff-reviewed queue, not a judgement in chat
- Every flagged conversation is in your dashboard next morning
Integrations
What is connected today, and what is not.
Where a system is not connected, it uses the manual route and says so, rather than implying something reached your diary.
Your website
One script tag on WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, Shopify, Wix or custom code.
Email to your team
Requests and handovers sent to the inboxes you nominate, with delivery status on each.
Practice inbox
A numbered, assignable queue with notes, status and export.
Webhook
Structured events posted to an endpoint you control (Pro plan).
Calendar booking
Captures a full request with the preferred time. Calendar integration isn't available yet.
Practice management
No PMS adapter yet. Verified reschedule depends on it, which is why chat will not do it.
SMS and WhatsApp
Not available yet. When built it will use authorised APIs and your consent settings.
Something else
Name the system and where your data sits. We will say plainly whether it is supported.
Privacy and security
What we actually do with patient enquiries.
Only what the task needs
A callback needs a name and a way to reach someone. Not a symptom history, a record or an insurance ID.
Separated by practice
Every conversation and document belongs to one account. Staff access is role based.
Encrypted, on your terms
Encrypted in transit; stored credentials are encrypted at rest. You set retention, delete conversations, and export what you hold.
No pixels on chat
Ad pixels and third-party analytics are off for chat content. Events record that something happened, never what was said.
What we do not claim
- We do not describe SpideyChat as HIPAA compliant, GDPR compliant or certified. Those words mean specific things, and they depend on your deployment as much as ours.
- SpideyChat is not HIPAA compliant and does not sign business associate agreements. Use it for routine administrative questions and requests, and don't ask patients to share health information in the chat.

Questions from practice managers
The things you would check first.
Will a patient think they are talking to a person?
No. The widget says it is an AI receptionist in the header and again under the message box, and it does not use a human name or a photograph of a clinician. When a member of your team joins the conversation, that change is labelled.
Can it actually book an appointment?
It captures a complete request today: what it is for, which site or clinician, when suits, the patient name and how to reach them. It never confirms a booking itself: every request is labelled as pending your confirmation, in the chat and in your dashboard, and your team confirms it.
What happens if it does not know the answer?
It says so, rather than filling the gap, and offers a callback from the team who would know. Every unanswered question collects in your dashboard so you can see what your website is missing.
Is it HIPAA compliant?
No. SpideyChat is not HIPAA compliant and does not sign business associate agreements. Use it for routine administrative questions and requests, and don't ask patients to share health information in the chat.
Can we switch it off?
Yes, from the dashboard, immediately, without touching your website code. You can also turn off individual tasks, such as appointment requests, while keeping the question answering.
Get started
See it answering your practice's questions.
We set up a receptionist using your own published content, so you can judge it on your questions rather than a script.
- No patient data needed to try it
- Nothing goes on your website until you say so
- We tell you what is not supported before you commit
